Grape Pip Weed and Irish Moss in Maine
Mastocarpus stellatus and Chondrus crispus are both common in Maine and often found together in the mid to sub-tidal zones. Their shape and texture can vary considerably making these two species difficult to tell apart at times. The infographic above gives basic guidelines on how to tell them apart.
