Event Details
Join postdoctoral research associate Elliot Johnston as he discusses his upcoming research projects at MNHO. The first project will examine spatiotemporal trends among breeding songbirds on small, forested coastal islands using autonomous recording units. Anecdotal evidence suggests that breeding Blackpoll Warblers have declined significantly on Maine islands over the past 30 years. The second project will update Purple Sandpiper overwintering population estimates in Maine to inform management of this hardy shorebird. This work builds on earlier population surveys conducted by Glen Mittelhauser and a winter diet study completed as part of Elliot’s dissertation at the University of Maine.
