Seaweed Database

Ulva intestinalis | Jordan Chalfant

About the Database

This database is a work in progress as the Seaweeds of Maine field guide team continues to compile existing data and conduct field surveys. MNHO is in the early stages of developing a user-friendly, semi-technical field guide to the seaweeds of Maine, designed to simplify seaweed identification for both outdoor enthusiasts and experienced biologists. This database serves as a valuable tool for both the authors and the public, providing insights into the current understanding of seaweed species distribution throughout Maine.

There is still work to be done to fill in the gaps in these data.
If you find a seaweed species in a location not listed in the database, contact us at info@mainenaturalhistory.org
We would love to assess it for inclusion in this project!
